CNR

 Overview

The National Research Council of Italy (CNR) is a governmental research organization whose mission is to carry out, promote, spread, transfer and improve research activities in the main sectors of knowledge growth and of its applications for the scientific, technological, economic and social development.
CNR is involved in the project with expertise of the Institute of Marine Sciences, ISMAR, one of the 12 institutes affiliated to the Department of Earth System Science and Environmental Technologies of CNR (DTA), conducting studies based on the observation of the Earth and on the comprehension of chemical, physical and biological processes governing our planet.
ISMAR, through its Research Units, directly manages the presently settled in situ coastal observing systems of CNR, composed by fixed platforms and moorings, HFRs, a glider and an observational system based on fishing vessels.

The group involved in this project in based in La Spezia and has extensive expertise and scientific excellence in the study of transport using HFR and drifters, environmental applications, technological developments and data management. CNR contributes to the Service Evolution Task for the integration of the HF Radar in the Copernicus Marine Service INSTAC.
